Though, our sources could not get their hands on the entire plan, but it seems that GM India is considering beginning export with Beat by the last quarter of current year. The Beat will first be shipped to Chile and later it will be exported to other markets including Mexico, Peru and Caribbean in 2015.

Sources close to the development reveal that initially GM India will export 2,000 to 2,500 units of Beat to Chile. Later, the company plans on manufacturing around 33,000 units of Beat at its Talegaon plant which will be exported to other markets. Mexico is a significant market for GM India, there is a huge potential for growth as far as exports are concerned. The sluggish market scenario in the domestic market has compelled the car maker to drive sales from exports. Since the sales momentum has been low for last couple of months, therefore companies are considering utilising their production capacity to full by exporting vehicles from India. Other auto makers from India are also following the same strategy, on one hand where domestic sales are dropping every month; growth has been reported on the export front.
