The grapevine is abuzz with rumours and speculations regarding when will Ford India Private Limited (FIPL), introduce its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) EcoSport in the country. However, a smaller version of the much hyped Ford's EcoBoost engine that is supposed to be powering the compact SUV EcoSport was found in a travel bag, while on its way to 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of Detroit Airport found a diminutive 1.0 litre Ford EcoBoost engine being nestled into a small carry-on travel suitcase. The engine was being transported from Detroit for the 2012 LA Auto Show that has been scheduled to take place between November 30 and December 9, 2012. As per a Ford Communications team member, Detroit airport's TSA had reserved no problems at all in sending the tiny 1.0 litre engine to its west coast destination. However, the bizarre incident became more interesting when officials sent the engine through x-ray scanner in a plastic tub, just like any other laptop or similar such articles.
The Ford EcoBoost engine is the American major's prized possession and has been widely acclaimed by industry experts in the markets where it is in production. The EcoBoost power-mill series has been powering Ford's many products, such as Fiesta, Mondeo, EcoSport, B-Max, Focus and C-Max amongst many others.
