      Ford India appoints Raj Sarkar as new Vice President for Marketing

      The Indian subsidiary of American auto giant Ford Motors has been involved in a lot of activities in the recent past due to the launch of EcoSport compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Recently, Ford India officially made the announcement regarding the appointment of Raj Sarkar as the Vice President for Marketing. Notably, Sarkar has a vast experience of around 17 years, which includes working in North American region as a part of the consumer marketing team for Ford cars.

      To his credit, Sarkar has been associated with a number of departments and one of his most significant achievements include the marketing of the F-150. Prior to being appointed as the Vice President for Marketing at Ford India, Raj Sarkar was working with Lincoln Global Business Strategy in the United States of America. Sources close to this development have said that the company is really excited to work with Raj Sarkar, who will be reporting to Vinay Piparsania, the Executive Director for Marketing, Sales and Service.

      Speaking about the prowess of Sarkar, he said, “We are very pleased to welcome Raj to Ford India. His extensive marketing experience along with the rich global perspective that he has gained over the years with Ford will surely help us go further with our brand and business in India.”

      Ford India has been doing a lot of reshuffling in the recent times by incorporating several new people in the team. Apart from Raj Sarkar, Ford India has appointed a new General Manager for Consumer Marketing, Rahul Gautam, who was previously working with Ford Asia Pacific as a B-Car Product Marketing Manager. On the other hand, Vinay Raina has become the new General Manager for Product Marketing. Sources claim that Ford India will be hoping to take a new step forwards as far as the Indian car market is concerned. Devising of new strategies and the inclusion of fresh ideas and perspectives are likely to take the company forward.

      Notably, Raj Sarkar replaced Sriram Padmanabhan who resigned from the post following the controversy involving Ford and JWT. According to this controversy, advertisements of the Ford Figo hatchback were released on Ads of the World, a platform wherein firms upload work that has been unpublished. The content in the advertisement was quite objectionable, due to which it received a lot criticism from all corners within a matter of few hours. To control the damage caused by the situation, JWT and Ford issued apologies.

      Ford India is looking towards a bright future in the Indian car market as it has been able to received amazing success through the launch of the EcoSport compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The Ford EcoSport, owing to its style, advanced features and aggressive pricing strategy, has been able to give the Renault Duster a run for its money. This compact SUV, despite a call back and some controversies, has managed to perform beyond expectation levels of the American firm. Incredibly, the Ford EcoSport received around 30000 bookings in just a space of 17 days.
