There is no denying that the Ford India's next all new car - the Figo Aspire - is one of the most awaited vehicles of the year. Set to enter the country’s most competitive segment – compact sedan - it will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest. Earlier showcased at Ford’s new Gujarat-based facility, the car is currently being displayed in different cities across the country. The compact sedan is likely to go on sale sometime in June – July 2015.

The Figo Aspire will be offered in two engine options – a 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol and a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel. While the former will be an all-new unit, the latter is the same that does duty on the Fiesta and EcoSport. The petrol unit will feature a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that will be borrowed from the EcoSport. The Figo Aspire will be the first car to get the dual clutch automatic gearbox in its segment. A 5-speed manual transmission will also be on offer.

Coming to the design, the Figo Aspire features a large ‘Astron Martin’ inspired grille, 14-inches alloy wheels and layered bootlid with chrome strip. It might also get projector headlamp setup with daytime LED running light. From inside, the car will share resemblance with the EcoSport and Fiesta. It will get features like SYNC technology with the Ford Applink, Emergency assistance, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and six airbags. The Ford Figo Aspireis expected to be made available within the price range of Rs. 5 lakh – Rs. 5.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
