From the current lot of vehicles put on exhibition at Paris from the British car duo, Jaguar and Land Rover, new Discovery Sport and new XE will make their India debut next year. The latest offering from the stables of Land Rover, Discovery Sport will be launched in India by late next year. Touted to be the least priced SUV from Land Rover, new Discovery Sport will globally fill the void created by the termination of Freelander 2. The SUV dons a new urban, modern and sporty design language reminiscent of Evoque and Range Rover Sport and will be relatively lighter than its predecessor thanks to the extensive use of aluminium. As they say, ‘An apple doesn't fall far from the tree’ fitting the bill aptly is the SUVs ability to be able to be driven on any kind of surface courtesy ground clearance of 212mm and approach departure and break-over angles of 25,31 and 21 degrees respectively. The vehicle possesses enhanced dimensions such as 4590mm length and 2741mm of wheelbase yet its looks compact.
New Discovery Sport
The company claims that the new Discovery Sport can be restarted in waterlogged areas even if the cabin was drenched in water for half an hour. The SUV will be offered in 5+2 seating layout boating of roomier cabin. For the comfort of the passengers sitting at rear, Land Rover has equipped reclining seats. Inside the cabin, an 8 inch, infotainment system with integrated voice-controlled satellite navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity and an all-terrain mode have been equipped as standard fitment.
The new XE saloon on the other hand will be launched in India in second half of next year. For Indian market the saloon could be priced between Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. New XE is the first ever Jaguar and saloon in its segment to be built on the new all aluminium architecture. Jaguar plans to produce the saloon locally at its manufacturing unit located in Pune. This would also enable the car maker to keep the price under affordable range.
