The Cruze sedan has been a dark horse in the sedan segment – often overlooked in buying option, but makes its presence felt on the tarmac. The Cruze sedan from Chevrolet delivers a perfect blend of performance with comfort in the Indian market. Speaking more about the newly launched car at the launch event, Rajesh Singh, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and after sales, General Motors India, said, “We are constantly upgrading our car lines according to the evolving needs of the Indian consumer. The updated Chevrolet Cruze with all new Gen2 automatic transmission returns improved fuel economy and also provides turn indicators on outside rear view mirrors, both of which are crucial for Indian road conditions.”
Under the hood the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze is powered by turbocharged 2.0-litre VCDi engine that generates about 166 Ps of power with 380 Nm of torque. The powerful engine is mated to optional six-speed automatic and manual transmissions. To handle unpredictable Indian road conditions, the sedan gets gas-charged McPherson strut type suspension for the front wheels, whereas the rear wheels shall be blessed by U-shaped rear suspension loaded with torsion beams and gas-charged shock absorber.
The interior is blessed with sport graphic infotainment display, radio and HVAC controls. The driver's seat comes with six-way power adjustable option. On the exterior front, the powerful sedan displays masculinity with redesigned front and rear bumpers, smartly designed dual bezel headlamps, and gets a smart dash of chrome on the fog lamps that are complimented with dual-port front grille with gold bow-tie. The Cruze sedan with vital safety features like hydraulic power rack-and-pinion power steering, two side airbags and dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) technology that can automatically control the central locking system and anti-theft alarm.
Recently, interior images of yet to be launched 2015 variant of Cruze has been doing rounds all over the internet. The new generation Cruze saloon made its global debut at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year. The images reveal that upgraded version of Cruze will offer classier cabin as compared to its forerunner. Inside the cabin the dual cockpit layout will be retained though the catch is a host of new features will be embedded and the quality of material used has also been raised. From the images revealed we can infer that this is the high end version of the saloon. Seats are covered in posh brown leather, piano black interior trim and chrome accents further class up the cabin. Among the features equipped in the cabin, a three spoke steering wheel, MyLink II infotainment system with an eight-inch display an ice blue ambient lighting and a “butterfly-shaped centre console” that offers “intuitive, user-friendly operation with clear functions at a glance” are included.
