Chevrolet Beat Petrol Variant Silently Recalled by GM

Definitely, the reports are correct about the recall of Chevrolet Beat. There is a possibility that the reason of recall is the accumulation of electrostatic discharge inside the non-conductive fuel pipeline. However, the good news is that only the petrol units have been recalled and not the other variants. General Motors had issued a voluntary recall of the Chevrolet MPV Enjoy on grounds of the issue that that 1.3 litre engine was causing problems. Now it is turn for the petrol units of Chevrolet Beat, which have been manufactured before July 31, 2010. The only difference being Enjoy was recalled quite publicly, there has been a lot of hush-hush about the recall of Beat. General Motors has been exceptionally quiet while calling back the petrol units of Beat. Incidentally, General Motors has distributed letters to individual owners of Beat, calling them back.

General Motors has asked dealerships to contact affected customers, who were facing this issue. Also, there has been a notice to fix an appointment with those people for an inspection of the models. If the manufacturer detects a problem at the time of inspection, the affected parts would be serviced at free of cost. The time required for the maintenance would just be a matter of hours. However, the number of hours taken might just be enhanced because of the traffic at the maintenance workshop.

The petrol variant of this car runs on a 1.2 litre four-cylinder engine, which is capable of churning out 78 PS of power with a torque output of 106 Nm. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission, this car had been performing well in the market before the recall. Incidentally, 2014 has been a year dedicated to recall only for GM on a global scale. This has also thrown light on the poor quality check in the company. Approximately, this year has witnessed a recall of 12.8 million units from General Motors, among which, the United States of America alone has 11.1 million units.
