Auto Expo 2012 has already reassured Mahindra’s SsangYong plans for India with the impressive Ssangyong line-up in their massive pavilion. The best thing however happened post the Auto Expo 2012. Recently on a laid back Sunday 22nd Jan 2012, I decided to go on the Nasik Saputara highway to experience the scenic and beautiful roads in my Tata Nano, when to my irritation a massive looking SUV was trying to bully me and eventually overtook me and it was the Ssangyong Rexton.
So clicking the SsanYong Rexton was the immediate step. The driver was trying really hard to zoom past all but to his bad luck and my good deeds, there was dense traffic. We followed the Rexton for a good patch of 20kms, by this time the driver had lost his cool as he was frantically followed by a pint sized Nano and was helpless in stopping us from taking pictures of the vehicle.
Mahindra has plans of getting the SsangYong manufactured at their local and important Nasik plant. The Rexton- II, which has already started featuring on the Mahindra official site with the other SsangYong Lineups, has a 2696cc 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel Unit. The unit produces a peak power of 179PS at 4000 rpm and a torque of 402 Nm at 1800-3250 rpm. It can reach max speeds of upto 190 km/h.

This is not a review of the SsangYong Rexton, however the driver seemed to put it in extra efforts to haul the massive SUV while overtaking everyone to shy away from our hungry cameras. Let’s see when Mahindra gets the SsangYong on roads.
