With the demand for the cars in the Indian automobile industry is slowing down, the more and more car makers are offering heavy discount on their India portfolio cars. Interestingly, the diesel run cars, which have been in a high demand among the car buyers for more than a year, are now available with lucrative discounts.

The diesel variants of the popular cars like Tata Indica, Maruti SX4, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and Nissan Micra, are now available with heavy discounts of up to 50,000 for select models.

Speaking on the company’s strategy over currently offered, Ford Motor India president & managing director Michael Boneham, said, "We are offering discounts on diesel models in-line with the market competition. The slowing demand curve has affected sales of diesel cars too and these rebates are expected to keep the sales ticking."

However, there are still some cars which are bucking the trend and enjoying high demand including Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo, Hyundai i20 and Verna, etc. All of these models are enjoying a waiting period of 6 to 8 months.
