      BMW aims to enhance its annual sales to 70,000 units by year 2020

      BMW India, the leading luxury car maker in the Indian market, is aiming high for the Indian market. The company is targeting an annual sales figure of 70,000 units by year 2020. With capturing a market share of 30 to 40 percent, BMW is looking forward to make Indian one of its top ten markets in the world.

      BMW has been on top position in the Indian market since year 2009, when it snatched the top luxury car maker’s title from Mercedes Benz. BMW India has registered a considerable rise in its sales following the launch of its volume segment compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) – BMW X1 – in the country. The company has already sold 7,000 units of its cars in the Indian market in the first half of this year.

      In a bid to further boost its market share, the company is all set to launch its brand Mini Cooper in the Indian market by next year. The BMW Mini Cooper series of cars will be shelved in the price segment of Rs 25 to 30 lakh, where it will be taking on with the likes of Volkswagen Beetle.

      Moreover, the company will also roll-out its cheaper BMW 1 Series model in the Indian market which is expected to be priced in the segment of Rs 16 to 20 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Toyota Camry, etc.
