Hyundai will unveil the next-generation ix35 or Tucson sports utility vehicle tomorrow. Few days ago, the maker had released the official sketch of the SUV, and now it has released a teaser image of the new SUV. Interestingly, the company will ditch the ‘ix35’ nameplate and the SUV will be sold as ‘Tucson’ badge.
In 2010, Hyundai India had launched the Santa Fe SUV, which was introduced as a replacement for the older Tucson SUV. It is quite early to comment whether the new model will come to India or not; however, the growing demand for premium cars could force the maker to bring this car to India. The Tucson SUV will make its European debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show next month.
The new-generation Hyundai Tucson will get the same, but evolved Fluidic design sculpture, which we have already seen on the new-generation i20, Genesis saloon and ix25 compact SUV. It features the large central grille, which is offered with the new Genesis Saloon. The hexagonal grille is flanked by sweptback headlamps with LED inserts. The side profile of the SUV gets more aggressive creases running across the length, while the alloy wheels are newly designed.
The new-generation Hyundai Tucson will compete against the likes of Nissan Qashqai, Skoda Yeti, Honda CR-V, Renault Koleos and Kia Sportage, and is expected to be launched by the end of this year. The new SUV will be powered by turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, paired to a dual clutch transmission.
