The most anticipated premium compact sedan from Mercedes-Benz has finally made way into India. The CLA-Class has been priced at Rs 31.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi). In terms of engine options, the new CLA will be offered in both petrol and diesel.
It is based on the same platform as the A-Class and B-Class. The design language is an extension of that used on the hatchback only in CLA the levels have been further raised. Instead of choosing the same straights and squares, the designers opted for a more rebellious theme to enhance its sculpted lines.
Carrying the same face, distinguishing it becomes difficult unless you close in on to the dark meshed radiator grille which has an array of machined black studs. The lower bumper too is different with flowing air scoops. The well sculpted bonnet gives a muscular feel.
The front dashboard, like the A-Class, borrows many elements including the air con vents and instrumental styling from the higher models thus making its customer feel connected with the brand.
The al new CLA Class is available in three trims. CLA 200 CDI Style – Rs 31.50 lakh, CLA 200 Sport – Rs 35 lakh and the CLA 200 CDI Sport at Rs 35.90 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Delhi. The petrol variant is powered by a 2-litre four cylinder engine, which makes 135kW of power at 5500 rpm and a torque of 300Nm between 1200 to 4000 rpm. The diesel is a 2.2L direct injection motor which produces 100kW of power and 300Nm torque between 1600 to 3000 rpm. Both the variants comes with a 7G DCT transmission. The petrol accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 235 kmph. The diesel motor concentrates more on efficiency at 17.9kmpl.
