Honda Cars India's next all new product - the new-generation Jazz - is most likely to come with a 5-speed gearbox. This is the same unit that comes with the Honda City. If rumours are to be believed, the same model will also feature paddle shifters. Though there is no clarity on the engine that will power this model - 1.5-litre i-VTEC or 1.2-litre i-VTEC.

The regular models will come in two engine options - a 1.2-litre-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. While the former delivers a maximum power of 87bhp with 109Nm of torque, the latter offers 99bhp with 200Nm. Both the powertrains will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

On the exterior, the Indian-spec model of the hatchback will feature a chrome grille, fog lights, body-colored door handles, new 5x2 spoke alloys, electrically adjustable ORVM with turn indicators, a rear wiper/ washer, roof spoiler with stop light and chromed rear registration plate enclosure. Inside the cabin, the car will get a City-inspired dashboard with Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system and automatic climate touch-controls, multimedia navigation system, steering mounted controls, keyless entry and leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever.

The new Honda Jazz will be available in four variants – E, S, V and VX – similar to the City sedan. With high-level of localization (nearly 90%), the hatchback is likely to be priced more competitively than the old model. Set to rival against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo, the new Jazz is likely to be priced within the range of Rs. 5.5 lakh – Rs. 8 lakh.
