German auto giant, Volkswagen seems to tighten its grip in India specifically in the mass segment that caters to a huge customer base in India. With Polo facelift recently launched, Volkswagen is now preparing to bring updated Vento sedan in India. If media reports are to be believed, Vento facelift could go on sale in India around the festive season. Around the same time VW will also bring performance oriented versions of Polo GT TSI and Polo TDI trims in domestic market. Along with this tweaked Cross Polo could also be rolled out around the same time. This would hopefully give VW a substantial leap in terms of sales during festive season when customers tend to buy new vehicles.
Coming back to the Vento facelift, like its petite sibling Polo, the most prominent change in the former will be the 1.5 litre diesel powertrain that is offered in two states of tune-90 PS and 105 PS. Petro trims will get the same set of engines as offered on the outgoing version. A DSG automatic transmission is expected to come mated to the 1.5 litre powertrain, while a five speed manual transmission will be paired with the 1.6 litre petrol engine and a seven-speed DSG gearbox will be synchronized with the 1.2 litre petrol motor.
Apart from this, Volkswagen is also considering launching Passat facelift in India by next year. Passat’s latest edition has already gone on sale in Europe early this month. Officials at Volkswagen confirmed launch of new generation Passat in India, though they have not revealed any details about the saloon.
