2014 Renault Duster expected to be introduced in India soon

Renault India, the domestic division of French auto maker, seems busy on the development of a facelift version of its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Duster. Interestingly, this segment is growing at a fast pace and affecting the sales of entry level sedans and hatchbacks as the price sensitive Indian buyers have now developed a penchant for utility vehicles at a competitive price. Currently, the compact SUV segment is dominated by the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.

Industry experts are of a view that Duster is facing a stiff competition from its new rivals, which has probably forced Renault to work on its reworked version. It must be noted that Renault Duster is the oldest model in the respective segment, and comes with a heavy price tag. In last couple of years, the demand for compact SUVs has been significant for the Indian auto industry, following which the auto companies introduced some of the brilliant models like Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Sources close to the development process have revealed that the new Duster will feature few modifications, which will surely gather the attention of domestic buyers.

Although the company officials have not confirmed the launch date of this car, it is expected to be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014. Key highlights of 2014 Renault Duster will be its dual-tone chrome grille, modified headlights, new tail lamp cluster, chrome lined exhaust and daytime running LEDs. A sporty set of alloy wheels is also expected to make a mark in the next generation Renault Duster. Along with, the interiors of new Duster will also feature few changes, which will impress the Indian buyers. It is expected that the new model will sport advancements like steering mounted controls, centre arm rest and a premium upholstery.

Coming to the technical specifications of new Duster, it is anticipated to feature the same engine options, namely 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine and 1.6-litre petrol. Along with, rumours are rife that the company will also introduce a new 1.2-litre engine option, which will help it to reduce the price of Duster in the Indian auto market. Auto analysts believe that the development of this model clearly shows company's plans to target the upper middle-class section of society.

Also, the competition in Indian auto market has seen a shift off-late. Earlier, the auto companies were focussing over hatchbacks and sedans, but now, a stiff battle can be seen in the compact SUV market. Owing to the same, the French auto maker has left no stone unturned in offering a new look to Duster, which is likely to enthral the Indian buyers soon.
