      2014 Fiat Linea coming on 4th March

      The Italian auto maker will launch new Linea onMarch 4thin India. The dealers have started accepting bookings for the new Linea at a token amount of Rs 25,000. At 2014 Auto Expo, Fiat revealed the new Linea which has received mild cosmetic changes on the outside. Major changes have been made inside the cabin which includes a new dual tone dash board,, instrument cluster with chrome ringed start/stop dials, centre console with integrated audio system, steering wheel with silver chrome and AC vents. On the exterior front, a restyled front grille, new fog lamps and a reworked bumper make the sedan look more appealing. Side profile remains unchanged; rear has been tweaked a bit. A new rear bumper with an additional chrome strip and the licensing plate which is now placed above the boot-lid are among the few changes made to the rear.

      Engine specifications are also left untouched, a 1.4 litre T-jet petrol motor continues to power the petrol version and Fiat’s famous 1.3 litre diesel engine which it sources to several other popular cars will be powering the diesel variant. Both the mills will be mated to a five speed manual transmission.

      Fiat plans to expand its portfolio in India, and hence is working on new cars to be launched in the domestic market. The compact SUV segment has thrived in a short period of time and auto makers are vying to launch new compact SUVs in India. A compact SUV named, Avventura is being developed by Fiat for India which could make its debut by the end of 2014.
