In an incident that occurred at Nashik, Maharashtra on 19th May 2012, thieves stole Rs. 2 lacs from a Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) owned by a resident of Makhmalabad, Pralhad Gaikwad. At 12.30 pm, Gaikwad visited the Nashik District Central Co-operative Bank’s (NDCCB) Makhmalabad branch to withdraw money. After parking his Toyota Innova near the Makhmalabad bus stand, he went to the bank. In the meanwhile, the rear windscreen of the SUV was smashed by the thieves, who escaped with the cash. After returning from the bank, Gaikwad, who lives in Makhmalabad learned about the theft and filed a compliant at Panchavati police station.
In an another incident which occurred on College Road on the same day, some people broke the glass of a Maruti Swift owned by Dr. Baste. He filed a police complaint at Gangapur Police Station.
On the same day, two motorcycles worth Rs. 30,000 were also reported to be stolen. At 6.30 pm, a Hero Honda motorcycle worth Rs. 10,000 was stolen. The bike belonged to a resident of the Maharashtra Housing Board colony, Ganpat Sonawane. The motorcycle was parked at the Ratan Mall, near Shalimar. Sonawane registered a complaint with Bhadrakali Police regarding the theft.
In the other incident, a resident of Pushpalaxmi Apartment, Indiranagar Mahesh Kanthikar complained about his stolen bike with Ambad police. His Hero Honda motorcycle worth Rs. 20,000 was stolen between 9.30 am and 2 pm. As per reports, the motorcycle was parked at Pathardi Pahata in front of Jitendra Motors showroom.
A rickshaw belonging to Walter Kurhade, a resident of Betale Nagar in Sharanpur, was set on fire in yet another incident on Saturday. The accused, Sanjay Shrivastav, has been arrested by Sarkarwada Police, whereas the other perpetrator, named George Salwe, is yet to be nabbed.
