      Yamaha's New Scooter 'Fascino' Launched at Rs. 52,500

      Yamaha has launched an new 113cc scooter - 'Fascino' in the Indian market at Rs. 52, 500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the “Rich & Class Modern Retro” design, the Fascino is claimed to be the lightest Yamaha scooter in the country. Powering the automatic scooter is an 113cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled and single-cylinder engine, boosted with the Yamaha’s ‘Blue Core’ technology. This engine delivers a maximum power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. Mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox, it returns a fuel economy of 66kmpl.

      Coming to the dimensions, the Fascino measures 1,185 mm in length, 675mm in width and 1,120mm in height. It weighs 103kg, and has a wheelbase of 1,270mm. The scooter has a fuel tank capacity of 5.2-litre. The Yamaha Fascino is available in five existing colors – Tuxedo Black, Rouge Red, Haute White, Sassy Cyan and Cool Cobalt.

      The Fasino gets a telescopic and monoshock suspension at front and rear respectively. And both the tyres get drum type brakes. With a seat height of 775mm, the scooter offers a comfortable seating position. The new Yamaha Fascino will compete against the likes of Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter and Hero Mastero in India.

      Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Roy Kurian, VP-Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, “India has the world's largest two-wheeler market with a total annual demand of approximately 16 million units (2014). Out of the total demand, the scooter segment constitutes 27% of the market, and is growing further year by year. Since 2012, Yamaha Motor has been introducing a range of scooters – including RAY, RAY Z and Alpha – and has been increasing its customer base in the Indian market. The new Fascino is intended to further expand sales in the scooter category, which is expected to grow further, especially among the youth who have a keen interest in current fashion and trends.”
