On the second day of 2014 New York International Auto Show, Volkswagen displayed upgraded Jetta saloon. The company had unveiled the saloon two days prior to the beginning of Auto Show. Donning infinitesimal changes, the new Jetta varies insignificantly from the outgoing variant. Infact, most of the additional features are being offered optional.
To enhance the fuel economy of new Jetta, Volkswagen has tuned the 2.0 litre TDI motor which is claimed to deliver an improved fuel efficiency of 19.13 kmpl as against the previous 17.8 kmpl.
Minor design changes have been made to the exterior and interior front. Among the exterior upgrades, a revised bumper, redesigned radiator grille, head lamps with optional bi-Xenon lamps and adaptive front lighting system are included.
Daytime running light comes with 15 LEDs each arranged in L-shaped sequence beside and below Xenon modules. Among the new additions a slight chrome work is also conspicuous amid the LED daytime running lights and Xenon. Fog lamps have also been scaled in the outer areas of bumper.
New Volkswagen Jetta’s GLI and Hybrid models get LED tail lamps that come with a vivid stripe and a refreshed Volkswagen logo. Trunk-lid and bumper have also been tweaked a tad. Picayune amount of changes have been made inside the cabin, the middle and top-of-the-line trims are being proffered with dash gauges enclosed in chrome-edged tubes. Interiors also get several features like new multi-function steering wheel, revamped air vent controls, piano black accents on the centre console and around the gear-shift lever, ambient light and new fabric colours and design for the seats. However all features are optional based on trim level one picks.
