The defect is found in the vehicles powered with 1.8 litre turbocharged motors, company has specified that affected vehicles are equipped with the faulty O-ring seals in the transmission air cooler. This leads to fluid leakage as the O-ring does not fully affix between the oil-cooler and transmission. In adverse condition, this could further cause a fire. The root cause behind this defect is the change in the material utilized by the supplier for producing the component, confirmed Volkswagen.
