      Volkswagen India rolls-out 1,00,000th car from Chakan plant

      Volkswagen India, the Indian unit of the largest European car maker, achieved yet another milestone on Friday. The Chakan based manufacturing plant of the company rolled-out its 1,00,000th car on the occasion which was graced with the presence of MP Supriya Sule, MLAs Dilip Mohite-Patil and Vilas Lande. From the company’s side a number of senior officials were present including Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and president and managing director, Volkswagen India Private Limited Dr John Chacko and Executive Director, Technical, Volkswagen India Private Limited Holger Nestler.

      The remarkable figure of 1 lakh units at this plant has been achieved in a short period of two years. The milestone car was a Volkswagen Vento that was rolled-out from the plant’s final check-point on Friday.

      Speaking on the occasion, a company official said, “The 100,000th car was rolled out within five months of the roll out of the 50,000th car from the Volkswagen plant. The Chakan plant currently produces Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Fabia.”

      Volkswagen India is currently one of the fastest growing car makers in the country. The current line-up of the company in the Indian market include hatchback Polo, mid-size sedan Vento, premium sedan Volkswagen Jetta and Passat, Iconic Beetle, and luxury SUV Touareg.
