Tata Motors is all set to launch its hatchback in 2015 and has begun working on the chic model. This new car is expected to be placed below the Bolt hatchback. The new hatch has been codenamed as XO or the Kite; however, the launch of this model will be possible only in 2015.

The new hatch is based on the Indica platform, and will be accompanied with a top-hat. It will compete against the likes of Celerio and Wagon R. The new XO is expected to come with an exclusive styling, taking hints not only from Bolt and the Zest, but also from Tata Nexon compact SUV. Though, there are no news regarding the detailed styling of Zest; however it is expected that the styling will be cohesive. Also, there are rumours that the styling is expected to be much better than the previous models.

XO is also set to get a fresh interior except some partial bits like the steering wheel and the seats. These might be retained to make the car more affordable. It is also expected that the car will come up with plenty of boot space and capacious interiors.

The model will be powered by a 1.05 litre tri-cylinder engine, which was showcased long back in Auto Expo 2012. This mill will be mated with a five-speed manual gearbox for churning out 64.1 bhp power and 14.27 Nm torque. It is expected that the same engine will be used on upcoming models, as well. The car is expected to come both in diesel and petrol for now. Also, the CNG and AMT variants are expected to be in the pipeline, as of now. With Kite, it is expected that the original Indica will be replaced. It is expected that the new car will take Tata a step ahead in the segment.
