Maruti Swift Dzire 2011, an upcoming next generation version of the Maruti’s popular entry level sedan Swift Dzire, is speculated to have a length of less than 4 meters, as per some recent industry reports in India. If these speculations turn out true, the upcoming version of Maruti Swift Dzire will be shorter as well as cheaper from its predecessor.

The current model of Swift Dzire carries a length of 4160mm and attracts an excise duty of 22%. If company reduces its length to less than 4 meters, the new Swift Dzire will be able of qualify for a lesser excise duty segment of 11 percent. This way, the company can slash the Dzire’s price by up to Rs 40,000 in the Indian market.

However, for reducing its length to less than 4 meters, Maruti may have to compromise on boot space and overall interior space as well, which could adversely affect the demand for this car in the country as the large interior space has been a critical selling point for Dzire among Indian buyers.

Maruti India has already announced that it will roll-out new generation of its high volume driving entry-level sedan –  Maruti Swift Dzire – by the second half of next year.
