      Ford India registers 172% jump in its sales during Dec 2010

      The Indian unit of US based leading car maker Ford has registered a very strong sales growth of over 184 per cent to 83,887 units in the calendar year 2010. The company had sold a total of 29,488 units in the calendar year 2009. Comparing the December months, in the month of December 2010, Ford India has posted a growth of 172 per cent over the sales of same month last year.

      Commenting on company’s massive sales growth during year 2010, Ford India’s Managing Director Michael Boneham said, "This has been an outstanding year for Ford in India with nearly triple digit growth sales. It is also extremely encouraging to see the Figo sweep many prestigious industry awards and it is gratifying to see so many  Ford Figo models on India's roads."

      Since the Figo's launch in March 2010, the company has sold more than 60,000 units of the hatchback in the country. Moreover, the company has enhanced its sales and service network to 170 dealers, spread across 100 cities in India.

      At present, the company produces a range of its portfolio vehicles at its manufacturing plant at Maraimalai Nagar near Chennai. These cars comprises of hatchback Figo, mid-size sedans like Fiesta and Ikon, and luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) – Ford Endeavour.
