The Japanese automobile maker HONDA is working on a newer and a sportier version of its 250-cc segment bike CBR250r. It is reported that HONDA has all set its mind to launch the new CBR250R rather than the more powerful CBR300r model making all the Honda bike lovers come to disappointment. The FireBalde maker’s rivals, Kawasaki and Yamaha’s twin-cylinder offers in the quarter-liter space are the Ninja 300 and R25 respectively. News also suggests that HONDA might be on to something big.

A Japanese magazine ‘Young machine’ reported that Honda is working on a twin-cylinder motorcycle that will be called CBR250RR. It was obvious that the Japanese maker will go for this segment because of its rivals also entering this section.

Codenamed as ‘K64A’, the CBR250RR can be revealed in the last quarter of 2015. The mid-segment bike will have v-twin engine layout and parallel-twin design for the mill. Report also suggests that HONDA could place VTR250’s engine in the CBR250RR.The 250-cc engine will produce 32 PS of peak power and 23.5 Nm of peak torque with 6-speed manual gearbox. With this much power, the bike can achieve the speed of 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds and 60 km/h in 2-3 seconds.

The bike will be offered sale in the two-wheeler market such as Indonesia and many other Asian countries where there is more demand for powerful bikes. The Indonesian government doesn’t stick high taxes in the sub-250cc bike and also gives exercise duty benefits. HONDA already has plans to launch the CBR250RR in the Indonesian market, but not the more powerful CBR300RR, which will be heavily taxed by the government.

Well, if the news and rumors are true, then we do not expect HONDA to launch the much-awaited bike anytime soon in India. Also, the pricing will be high as compared to the current 250-cc segment bike.
