      Toyota Kirloskar Motor Wins Best Energy Kaizen Award 2014-15

      Indian subsidiary of Japanese car major, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, has won the prestigious “Best Energy Kaizen Award 2014-15”at CII’s 25th Kaizen Conference & Competition. The company’s paint maintenance and product engineering division won the famed recognition under the ‘RENOVATIVE’ category. This programme appreciates and awards all the initiatives by various companies for reduction in energy consumption. A total of 58 companies had participated this year.

      This award was bestowed on Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) for its world class facilities and innovative problem solutions on theme selections, defining the root cause of problem, analyzing and finding a root cause, logical reasoning in development area, countermeasure/kaizen development, sustenance plan and horizontal deployment and clarity of presentation and time management.

      On receiving the award, Mr. Raju B Ketkale, SVP Manufacturing Toyota Kirloskar Motor said “We are delighted that our thinking way and Kaizen adopted has won the top recognition in the industry. This award not only acknowledges our commitment towards the environment and society but also provides an effective measure of sharing our best practices with our peers in the business. Toyota continuously strives for improvement and development at workplace to minimize its impact on the environment. It not only includes improvement through innovative technology, but also step-by step planning and optimization of resources that results towards creating a sustainable plant and a low carbon society. We also impart similar thinking way & all our practices to our dealer & supplier partners across India”.

      CII 25th Kaizen Conference & Competition is a renowned platform that honors best practices and continuous improvement of processes in the fields of manufacturing, engineering, supporting business processes, and management across industry verticals. Each year, more than 80 members of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Club India present Kaizens to showcase their strong competitive and remarkable innovative ability in this global competition scenario.

      Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a joint collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation holding 89% stakes while the rest 11% rests with Kirloskar Group. Products like Innova and Fortuner are manufactured in India while premium offerings like the Prado, Land Cruiser and Prius are imported as CBUs. Other offerings like the Corolla Altis, Etios, Etios Liva,Etios Cross, Camry & Camry Hybrid are made at the second plant located at the outskirts of Bangalore with an installed production capacity of 2,10,000 units.
