      The all New BMW 5 Series debuts in India

      Iconic German luxury car maker, BMW has launched an updated version of its 5 Series in the Indian car market. The car that primarily bears cosmetic changes is priced between Rs. 46.9 lakh and Rs. 57.9 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, Philipp von Sahr, President of BMW Group India was quoted as saying, “The new BMW 5 Series is the Most Advanced BMW 5 Series Ever, a vehicle in which perfection is a given. The new BMW 5 Series contains all the signature ingredients of a best-selling model at the premium end of the executive segment. Precise modifications to the cars’ design, extensive engine range and innovative additions to the range of available equipment as well as BMW ConnectedDrive technology all achieve the best possible results, in every way.”

      The updated version of 5 Series comes along with refined interiors and exteriors. Changes are quite visible in the front fascia of the vehicle, which now sports new front bumper design that has contoured lines for the signature kidney grille. The car gets revamped headlamps that include LED fixtures besides the projector bulbs. Also to mention, the front fog lamps are now provided with chrome surrounds whereas the tail lights have gone through significant changes. Sahr further told “The BMW 5 Series is one of the core models in our product portfolio in India. With the launch of this model update, we will continue with the amazing success of the best-selling sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series.”

      The interiors of BMW 5 Series have gone through several modifications, which includes a touch sensitive panel for controlling its iDrive system. Apart from the technical advancements, the new 5 Series gets security features like Attention Assist, Active Headrests, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control and Side impact protection. The different driving modes include ECO PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+, but the latter is only available in 525d Luxury Plus and 530d M Sport trims. As told by BMW, the new model of 5 Series offers enhance mileage figures owing to the EfficientDynamics technology that improves on the driving dynamics and decreases fuel consumption. Interestingly, it is possible because of intelligent lightweight construction, brake energy regeneration, equal weight distribution and low 0.25 drag coefficient.

      It must be noted that the new BMW ConnectedDrive system is offered with a multifunction instrument touch screen panel, integrated hard drive, Global Positioning System (GPS), DVD drive and the new iDrive system. For passengers' entertainment needs, Harmon Kardon Surround system is provided that supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Also to mention, BMW India has given iDrive 24x7 roadside assistance & BMW Secure Advanced as standard with the new 5 Series. Speaking on the prevalent slowdown in the Indian car market, Sahr told that the low consumer sentiment has affected the sales of the company. He said “During the course of the current year, lack of consumer confidence has led to a lack of customer interest in buying new vehicles. BMW also felt strong pressure from the start of this year.”
