Team Yokohoma, formed recently, hit the ground running and won the first assignment of the calendar year 2015 at the FMSCI Indian Rally championship. Rahul Kanthraj and co-driver Vivek Bhatt, who drove a Mitsubishi Cedia, registered a win in the IRC 2000cc division in Maharashtra’s Mahindra Adventure Rally.

The team owners and officials were really happy with the proceedings and expressed excitement at this beginning. Speaking on the same, Sanjay Chatterjee, General Manager for Sales & Marketing at Yokohama India, said, “We recently announced TEAM YOKOHAMA for the year 2015. A win at this early a stage is very encouraging for us. Last year we had a podium finish in almost all the races and this year too, the start has been on a winning note.”

Rahul Kanthraj, who drove beautifully to take Team Yokohama to a win, said, “We have started the Year with a Win and that too with a lead of 3 minutes 46 seconds. We hope to continue in this form for the entire season in similar fashion.”

The 2000cc category is not new for the Kanthraj-Bhatt duo as they have been participating for over a decade and a half, starting in the year 2000. Their rally count is 75, which is quite incredible, and have won a total of 4 championships in total.

Like this duo, other parts of Team Yokohama would be hoping to make a mark in the tournament, be it Karna Kadur-M Chandrashekar (1600cc – Volkswagen Polo) or Prithvi Domnic-Pruthvi Ithal (2000cc). Motorsports have been a part of Yokohama’s philosophy for a long time and it hopes to continue the same with these teams.
