Tata Safari Storme will undergo a minor facelift; the company is believed to have started testing the facelift version of the SUV. Launched in 2012, Safari Storme could not garner the kind of response company had expected it would. Hence this is a much needed makeover Storme is going through to survive amid fierce competition it has around it.

Modifications will be made to the exteriors and interiors of the vehicle. Mechanical tweaks could also be made for improved performance. Changes made to the exteriors are confined to a reworked bumper and a redesigned honeycomb grille in the front. Other than these tweaks everything will remain unchanged. Inside the cabin, a new infotainment system and a new third row front-facing seat will be introduced while rest is expected to be the same as in the current model.

A robust version of the 2.2 litre, VARICOR turbo diesel engine could be employed in the SUV matched to a six-speed manual transmission. Just like the new Aria that has been housed with a more powerful version of the engine. The modified version of the diesel engine will be able to produce enhanced power output of 148 Bhp along with top torque of 320 Nm. To give a push to the vehicle in domestic market, Tata Motors could marginally bring down price of the SUV. In its segment, the SUV will primarily compete with Mahindra Scorpio that has recently been launched in a new avatar donning comprehensive changes.
