Launched in India a few days ago on August 12, 2014, Tata Motors has big plans or its new compact sedan -the Zest. Sources have revealed that Tata Motors is thinking on the lines of exporting Zest to other Asian or South African markets. Tata Motors also has presence in European countries, however the company did not hint on its intentions to export Zest to European markets. Priced aggressively at Rs 4.64 lakh for the base petrol model, Zest is a viable option for customers in India who want to upgrade from hatchback to sedan. Officials at Tata Motors have confirmed that though exports are on cards but company’s primary focus is domestic market.
In the compact sedan segment, the Zest competes with other vehicles including Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent. However, the company is confident that Zest will be able to garner good response and will succeed in luring customers to showrooms. The production capacity at Tata Motors’ two of production unit is sufficient enough to cater to high demand of Zest if required. Tata Motors has been witnessing slump in domestic sales for last couple of months, but it seems with the new vehicle launched in India, the car maker is expecting to take a sigh of relief.
Following the launch of Zest, Tata Motors will also bring forth the new Bolt hatchback in India by year end. Showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, Bolt received positive response from the auto enthusiasts. Besides this the company is also planning to launch a new facelift version of Tata Nano and position it as a Smart City Car. Other than this, Tata Motors will also spawn an AMT version of Tata Nano hatchback in domestic market.
