Suzuki Motor Corporation, the fourth largest auto maker in its parent country, Japan has recently announced the worldwide recall 1,09,000 units of its subcompact trendy car, Swift owing to an error that may lead to leakage in petrol. However, the company’s Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India has stated that this massive recall will not be subjected to affect its operations in India.
As per the reports shared, Suzuki will be recalling over one lakh units manufactured between September 2010 and April 2012 with major call back pertaining to Japan. The recall has been initiated after the detection of a connection fault on the rubber fuel filler hose that may inadvertently lead to petrol leakage issues. Until now, four such cases have been reported in Japan, which have not spurred to accidents but no such case has been registered in the overseas markets.
A spokesperson of Maruti Suzuki India confirmed that the top selling Swift hatchback produced and sold in India will be exempted from this global recall.
Suzuki is expected to recall around 55,146 units that were sold in the home market while the remaining 53,801 units comprise of the Swift exported to the overseas market of Mexico, Europe and Australia.
The Japanese auto giant has further announced that for the exported Swift cars, the dealings with the buyers will be established in accordance with the local procedures prescribed by the concerned countries.
Even in the month of March, Suzuki Motor Corporation had called back around 93,000 units of Swift supermini car, with over 45,800 units from Japan due to the impending repair in the fuel filling system.
