Suzuki Hayabusa is soon to be assembled in India, which is likely to reduce its price to Rs. 12 lakh. With this move, the Japanese sports bike maker is looking forward to increase its profit in the Indian market by rolling out affordable models. Notably, the locally assembled models attract fewer taxes, which will help the Japanese company to price its bikes competitively.
Industry experts believe that with the local assembly, the price tag of Suzuki Hayabusa is likely to witness a steep fall of Rs. 5 lakh from the current cost of around Rs. 16 lakh. Sources close to the development process revealed that the auto maker would assemble Hayabusa and its other superbikes at Manesar plant in Haryana. Notably, Hayabusa happens to be an iconic motorcycle, and was once titled as the fastest accelerating production bike. However, its long dominance as the fastest accelerating production bike has been recently concluded by the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R. Suzuki Hayabusa comes equipped with a 1340 cc engine, which churns out a maximum power of 197 PS, which helps it in clocking a top speed of 299 kmph.
It has been learnt that the demand for superbikes has increased several folds in the Indian auto market during last one decade. In the last one year, this respective segment expanded by more than 50 per cent, and it is believed that this growth will continue at a decent rate in the future as well.
It must be noted that Hayabusa is not the only superbike, which will be brought as a CKD kit and then assembled in the country. Motorcycles like Kawasaki Ninja 650R, Triumph Street Triple 675 and Hyosung GT650R are all assembled here. With the import of CKD units, the prices of these models come up as much affordable to a greater number of buyers in India, resulting in decent sales for these brands.
