The wholly owned sub division of Volkswagen Group, Skoda Auto, has planned to break the cover of its base variant of Superb, Ambition. As per the details shared by the senior company officials, Skoda will launch its Ambition in the Indian auto industry on 18th April 2012. With the launch of this car, the company will introduce the entry level variant of Skoda Superb in the Indian market. The new offering from Czech manufacturer features a host of advancements that provides an extra dose of comforts to its passengers.

In order to cater the demands of a large number of buyers, the company will introduce its new car in both – petrol as well as diesel versions. As far as technical specifications of Superb Ambition are concerned, the petrol version is assimilated with a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine that has the potential to produce maximum power of 160 bhp. The peak torque churned out by this engine is 250 Nm at a fairly low 1500-2500 rpm. In order to assist the performance of this efficient engine, it is mated with a 6 speed manual transmission system that has smooth as well as easy switching of gears.

On the other hand, the diesel version of Superb Ambition holds a 2.0 litre TDI motor, which generates highest power of 140 bhp at 4200 rpm, while produces maximum torque of 320 Nm at a fairly low 1750-2500 rpm. In addition, the engine is mated to a 6 speed DSG transmission system that provides an extra touch to the performance of Ambition.

Although the car is incorporated with a powerful engine, the buyers have to compromise for certain features which will in-turn reduce its cost and thus make it an entry level premium sedan in the product portfolio of Skoda. Since it is a base version, it will not be incorporated with advanced features, such as electric sunroof, bi-xenon cornering head lights, bluetooth connectivity and touch screen system in centre console. Along with these features, the car will also lag some of the safety features that are provided incorporated within top end version. These features include hill hold and hill descent function.

Considering the price of this new offering, the company has reduced it by Rs. 1.5 lacs, as compared to the current base variant. The petrol variant of Superb Ambition is priced at Rs. 18 lacs, whereas its diesel version is provided with a tag of Rs. 22.5 lacs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
