      Salman Khan's Land Cruiser hit and run case takes a new twist

      One of the most high profile case Salman Khan hit and run incident has taken a new twist with the local Police failing to produce original documents and case diary that was in their possession way back in 2002 when the accident occurred. It is said that of the 63 original statements given by witnesses only 7 are traceable now, however Police says that attested copies of the same are available with them. The Toyota Land Cruiser reportedly being driven by Salman Khan lost control and ran over four people sleeping outside a bakery. One Person reportedly died whereas three others had been grievously injured.

      The Sessions court has given a last chance to the Police for locating the missing papers by September 12. Kishan Shengal, who has been investigating the case before his retirement has been asked by the judge to appear in person on September 12 and throw some light on the missing papers. Judge D W Deshpande who is addressing the case now has the asked police to clearly inform their plan of action in this regard. Salman Khan's lawyer Srikant Shivade has argued in the court on the need for presence of original papers to be produced before the trial court that is required as per law. Police on the other hand has argued that true copies are sufficient in Mumbai courts and the trail can go on.

      If the case turns in favor of the Police, actor Salman Khan is likely be charged under section Culpable homicide not amounting to murder which attracts a 10 year jail sentence. Earlier, the actor has been tried by a magistrate for a lesser offense which entailed an imprisonment of up to two years.
