The entry-level small car from Renault, which has been given the codename XBA, is expected to be launched in India in the month of May this year. The XBA will make its world premiere in the country and will be shortly followed by launching in other markets like that in Asia, South America and South Africa.
Carlos Ghosn, the CEO and Chairman of Renault Nissan Alliance, will pay a visit to Chennai in India in the month of May for the launch of this car. The XBA will be rolled out from the Alliance’s factory in Oragadam in Chennai. The pricing and specifications of the XBA, however, has not yet been specified. The specifications of Renault XBA will be disclosed at the time of its launch.
We believe that the Renault XBA will be powered by an 800 cc petrol mill, which is provided with manual as well as an automated manual transmission system. The launch of this car will also mark the debut of the CMF-A platform.
However, this new car from Renault will rival Maruti Alto by a fair margin. Renault has a lot to depend on this car in a segment, which is dominated by Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon. Currently, the company has a market share of 2.5 per cent and has high hopes on XBA to take it to 5 per cent. The main target of this car will be Tier II and Tier III cities. The price range of this model is expected to be around Rs 3 to 4 lakhs.
