Nissan Qashqai is more than a 4WD crossover hatchback model. It is a distinct model featuring hoards of features that are definitely not anticipated in a model of small car segment. Nissan has refreshed the model giving it a better on-road presence. It introduces an all-new bonnet, front bumper, wings, grille and headlamps. At the back, a new LED taillight design incorporates a more transparent style with clear lens coverings for the reverse and indicator lights and red for the brake and running lights.

The new Qashqai delivers more fuel efficiency as compared to its predecessors by becoming lighter - e.g. by deleting fog lights preferring flat socket covers. The Pure Drive produces 0.46 pounds of CO2 per mile driven, versus 0.49 pounds from a standard 1.5-liter diesel model. Noise, vibration and harshness have been improved for 2010, with the addition of an ‘acoustic’ windscreen and a new multi-layer insulation material fitted around the front bulkhead.

Mitsubishi is also planning to launch a Qashqai rival which is a small soft-roader christened as RVR, earlier called as Concept CX. It will be shorter than the Outlander and will feature 1.8L petrol engine. The RVR will go on sale in Japan in the second quarter of 2010 followed by Europe, North America and other Asian markets in 2011.
