      Nissan posts 230% growth in March 2014 on the back of Datsun Go

      Nissan India has registered a growth of 230% in March 2014 at 7,019 units as against 2,072 units sold in the same month last year. Nissan’s low cost brand Datsun contributed majorly with 2,072 units of its GO hatchback sold within 10 days of its launch in India. In fiscal year 2013-2014, Nissan posted decent growth with 38,217 units as compared to 36,975 units sold in FY 2012-2013. Company’s new entrant in the SUV segment, Terrano turned out to be the biggest contributor with 14,998 units sold since its launch in October 2103. Sales of its B segment hatchback Micra accounted for 12,595 units in FY 2013-2014.

      Nissan India previewed a string of upcoming vehicles at the 2014 Auto Expo including Nissan Sunny facelift, tweaked version of Evalia and GT500 GT-R supercar. Company will be launching Nissan Sunny facelift in India during festive season. Sunny’s tweaked version is expected to don several changes , front fascia has been retouched sporting new additions like a bigger front grille, restyled headlamps and chrome touches have been given to render an up-market look. Additions have also been made inside the cabin which is visible in the form of new music system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB and auxiliary input and a piano black centre console. Nissan may add new colour options to sedan’s line-up.

      Besides new Sunny, the company is also contemplating to foray into the exponentially growing sub-four-meter segment. Sources reveal that the company is developing a compact sedan and a compact SUV for the domestic market. With the launch of new products in India, Nissan eyes increasing its market share from current 1.1 per cent to 10 per cent.
