Definitely, records are meant to be busted and this is the core aspect and reason to push things beyond the limits in the automobile industry. Matthew Hine and David Anderson from the renowned Anderson’s Bodyshop did push the benchmark for mobility scooters a tad higher. The world’s fastest mobility scooter record was held by Danish Klaus Petersson at 82 miles per hour, which is approximately 132 kilometres per hour. However, a new world record has been set by the Anderson-Hine duo.
There was a lot of innovation involved in getting the model ready for this speed record. Matthew Hine and David Anderson took out a Suzuki Bandit engine and installed it in the chassis of a modified go-karting vehicle. Thus, the record breaking mobility scooter was developed. The innovative mobility scooter was up there and broke the record by a fair margin. It clocked almost a maximum speed of 107.6 miles per hour, which when converted becomes 173 kilometres an hour. The entire mobility scooter took almost six months to be manufactured. The duo had built this mobility scooter in an attempt to surpass the previous maximum record. After modifying it after the first test run that included a change in its gearing pattern, Hine and Anderson were satisfied and ready to go for it. It was a grand success as the scooter broke the record and surpassed it. It will now take some time for yet another modification to set a new record. Till then, kudos to Matthew Hine and David Anderson!
