The Hayate from the esteemed Japanese manufacturer, Suzuki has been quite a success. This commuter motorcycle has been one of the favourite choices of the crowd for quite some time now. Recently, the manufacturer has decided to launch an all-new variant of the same model with a number of cosmetic changes. However, the mechanical parts will remain as it is in the older version of Hayate. Definitely, the commuter segment is one that constantly grows in India. Additionally, with the unpredictable economy somewhat stabilising and looking positive in the last few months, it is expected that the refreshed version will find a good market in the country.

The side cowl of the new model has been fully painted, and is expected to feature smart graphic designs. Definitely, the graphical design will attract fans more as these things are the first to catch a buyer’s eyes. The new Hayate will have tubeless tyres, which will have broader rims for increased balance. The analogue speedometer and the white and black combination of dials remain identical for the rider’s convenience. The headlamp has been kept the same, though the entire appearance from the front has earned more brownie points.

As far as the mechanistic details are concerned, the bike has not received many changes at all. The engine is the same 112 cc, air-cooled single-cylindered mill, which has a maximum power output of 8.3 bhp. The bike is capable of producing a torque of 8.8 Nm, where the engine is neatly mated with a four-speed gearbox. The tubular frame chassis is the same as the older version. Telescopic front suspension and swing arm rear suspension have been installed to make the rider’s journey comfortable on this bike. The fuel capacity of the tank is 8.5 litres, with a reserve limit of two litres.

Six colours, all with fancy names have been designed for the new Hayate. The colours are metallic lush green, pearl mira red, pearl moonstone grey, glass sparkle black, black sparkle black and pearl mirage white. Definitely, the new Hayate will be put up against few of the strongest names in the commuter segment like Bajaj Discover and Hero Splendor Plus. However, it is expected that the bike with renewed graphics and cosmetic changes will live up to the expectations. If reports can be trusted, the new version will be production-ready and up for sale by the beginning of the festive season.
