Skoda Auto India will introduce a new facelifted model of Skoda Fabia on 24th of this month. The car was earlier introduced at the Geneva Auto Show 2010 in March this year and will be commercially available from October onwards. The car does not carry many changes on the exterior, but it will get the new family look along with a wide front grille, new headlamps and new fog lamps. Interiors are expected to remain the same.
However, the major change is under the hood where the new Fabia will be powered by a 1.2L diesel engine that currently powers the Volkswagen Polo. The new model will also have a 1.2L petrol engine which will be BSIV compliant. The current model is already being phased out from 13 major cities where new emission norms have been implemented and will come into effect in rest of the cities from October 2010 onwards.
The estimated price of the base variant is Rs. 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Skoda has not released any official pictures of the model so far and final technical details will be available on the launch date.
Skoda is also expected to launch a new 1.6L model of Fabia.
