Mahindra and Mahindra has been working on its World SUV model which is expected to be launched next year. The model will be exported to the US market, a market that Mahindra has been planning to enter since a long time. The company is already present in the commercial vehicle segment via a joint venture but it still needs to create its own brand name in the US market, especially in the passenger vehicle segment.
The new World SUV model is codenamed as W201 and is being developed at M&M’s Chakan facility near Pune. “We are looking at significant share of the new SUV manufactured here to be exported into the US market. We are planning to come out with the new SUV next year,” said Dr Pawan Goenka, president - Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra.
The model has also been spied testing on the Indian roads by TeamBHPians. The model displays mighty muscular looks and a whole new monocoque frame. In the Indian market, the model will be competing with models like Chevrolet Captiva and Ford Endeavour.
