Hyundai intends to launch at least 18 new models in the next 18 months in the UK market to strengthen its presence in the British market. The company was greatly benefited by the scrappage scheme introduced by the government where it clocked record sales in 2009. Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK Managing Director stated that the company plans to maintain such robust sales even after the scheme has been called off. “Scrappage has been a massive help in helping people recognise the Hyundai brand,” said Whitehorn. “But, quite rightly, it does have to end at some point and we’re focused on maintaining our sales going into 2010 and beyond.”

Hyundai will launch new ix35 in the year 2010 which will replace its existing model Tucson in the British market. Prior to it, Hyundai will launch the facelifted Santa Fe model that goes on sale in next few weeks.

Later in the year, it will introduce two new MPVs that will further enhance its product portfolio that will compete effectively in the UK market. Hyundai had revealed its new MPV at the Frankfurt Auto Show which is based on Kia Venga. It will be the first 5-seater MPV from Hyundai. The second MPV is going to be a 7-seater passenger vehicle that was introduced at the Geneva Motors Show last year. this MPV will be based on i-model concept.

Hyundai will also release facelifted i10 model in 2010 and later by 2012 it intends to introduce production model of ix-metro concept revealed at the Frankfurt Motors Show this year.
