      New-gen BMW X6 launched in India at Rs. 1.15 crore

      BMW India, today, launched the second-generation X6 Sports Acitivity Coupe at Rs. 1.15 crore (ex-showroom). Unveiled at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, the new-gen BMW X6 will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi A5, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Porsche Canyenne. It will continue to be imported to India via CBU (Completely built up) route.

      Powering the new-gen X6 is the same 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, in-line diesel engine that did duty to the old model. This engine comes mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission that helps the car churn out a maximum power of 313bhp at 4,400rpm and 630Nm of torque at 1,500rpm – 2,500rpm. BMW claims that the new X6 returns a fuel economy of 15.87kmpl (EU-rated figure).

      Available in a xDrive40d variant, the new-gen X6 is capable to achieve 0-100kmph in 5.8 seconds. It offers a top speed of 240kmph. The SUV also continues to feature the 4WD (four-wheel drive) system. Based on the new platform that uses aluminum, thermoplastics and high-strength steels, the new X6 weighs 40kgs lighter than previous model, and preserves the 50:50 weight distribution between front and rear axles. BMW is also offering the M-Sport kit with the car that includes a three-spoke M-Sport steering wheel, sporty bumpers and M-branded sill plates with illumination.

      Features on offer are BMW’s iDrive connected multimedia system, a Harman Kardon sound system, leather seats, reverse camera, Head-Up display, paddle shifter, 19-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate and LED headlights.
