Nano passed its road test conducted by Automobile Research Association of India. It gave a clearance to the car for the Indian tarmac; however, fresh protests loom up in front of Singur plant in West Bengal. Farmers in Singur have resumed protests that have blocked construction of the factory.

Mamta Banerjee had earlier stated that there was no confusion regarding the deal between the government and the farmers. Mamta Banerjee claimed that the deal that was inked Sunday, promised that the farmers shall be returned 200-300 acres of land.

In response to Banerjee's statement, Tata Motors has shot off a strong letter to the government seeking a clarification and transparency of the deal. It also expressed its distress over Trinamool's Chief. It also took a strong exception on her comment. ”Clearly there is a significant variant in the statement,” said Tata Motors managing director Ravi Kant, " I request you to kindly provide complete clarity on the same on an urgent basis to us to assess the impact on the implementation of the Nano project in Singur and to enable us to take appropriate decisions.”

Tata has already ruled out moving out ancillary units from its plant stating that they form an integral part of the production of the car due to costs involved and are necessary for the viability of project.
