The model was revealed just before the screening of the Shanghai Motor Show in the evening. Also the four-door coupe model will serve as a preview to the crossover, which will rival the BMW X4. It is expected that it will take the GLC Coupe name into production in 2017.

The car has borrowed hints from the larger GLE Coupe. This model has received a bluff front, which bears the Benz’s signature soft nose grille. Also present is the patent three-star Mercedes-Benz logo. The new concept car has shared its front wings, bonnet, windscreen as well as doors with the GLC in production. The successor to the left-hand drive GLK comes with a comparatively upright tail gate portion.

The new car will be powered by the Mercedes twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, V6 petrol mill. This 90-degree engine is capable of producing 270 kW of power with a torque output of 520 Nm. This will be more power than the petrol powered X4 by almost 45 kW and 120 Nm respectively.
