Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the makers of largest selling car brand in the Indian market, has announced on Friday that it will roll-out the much awaited MUV (Multi Utility Vehicle) Maruti Ertiga in the Indian market on 11th April, 2012. This will be the first ever MUV from Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market in over 27 years of operations of the firm in the country.
The Ertiga MUV is expected to be shelved in the price segment of Rs 6 to 8 lakh, where it will be giving a tough fight to the likes of Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012, where it was received staggeringly by the car enthusiasts and visitors. The petrol version of the car will come powered by a K-14 VVT 1.4 litre engine (first time in India). On the other hand, the diesel one will come loaded by a 1.3L DDiS Super Turbo, the same one to which company sources for its Ritz, Swift and Dzire models. The company is aiming to sell 5,000 units of Ertiga SUV per month in the Indian market.
