The Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki, which has been struggling with halted production at its Manesar plant due to labor strike, has said that it will not resume full scale production until all of its workers agree to sign a 'good conduct bond'. The bond has been brought-up by the company to ensure that there will be no repetition of quality related issues at the plant.

In a statement given to reporters at the sidelines of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association's (ACMA) annual convention in the National Capital, MSI Chairman R C Bhargava said, "We can't start full production till the workers are ready. They have to sign the bond." He added that the company would like to resolve this at the earliest, but the workers need to understand that good conduct is a must. Out of the over 900 permanent workers, only 63 have signed the 'good conduct bond' so far, as per the company.

Maruti Suzuki India has stopped receiving bookings for its Swift hatchback in the Indian market due to problems at its Manesar plant. The bookings of Swift had crossed the 80,000 unit mark in just a fortnight of the launch of this car in the country, while the production of Swift has been almost on a halt at Manesar plant of the company since August 29th. Till now, the company has lost production of about 6,625 units, converting in a revenue loss of over Rs 330 crore, till September 5th.
