      Mahindra Scorpio gets new S4+ variant

      Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown car maker, has silently added a new variant to its popular SUV - the Scorpio's lineup. Named as the S4+ variant, the new trim is equipped with additional safety and security features. The feature addition includes airbags for both driver and co-driver, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) to avoid wheel-locking and skidding on panic braking, seatbelt reminder warning and panic brake indication.

      Adding to it, the new variant also gets follow-me-home head lamps which is offered as standard safety feature. The shift-on-the-fly all-wheel drive system offered on the S4 variant is now available with the S4+ variant. Now, the S4 variant gets standard rear wheel drive system. Also on offer are the black side cladding and steel wheels; however, the top-end models get body coloured cladding and alloy wheels.

      Mahindra Scorpio S4+ variant is propelled by a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 120bhp and a peak torque of 280Nm. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox which sends power to all four-wheels of the SUV. The exact pricing details of the SUV are yet to be announced, but it is expected to cost around Rs. 50,000 more than the previous S4 all-wheel drive model.
