      Mahindra and Mahindra announces XUV500 recall for models manufactured before July 2014

      Country's leading carmaker Mahindra and Mahindra has announced recall for XUV500 models manufactured before July 2014. The company has reportedly identified issues with airbags installed in the SUV manufactured on or before July 2014. The problem in the side curtain airbag has reportedly been due to a software issue and not for defective parts. Hence, the owners of the affected vehicles need not panic and can get it fixed at their nearest authorized Mahindra service station.

      Mahindra XUV500 customers can visit the 'Service Action' section on the company's website to check if their vehicle features among the affected list. Apart from this, the company has also been writing to individual owners asking them to to get their vehicle fixed free of cost. To strengthen vehicle safety norms in the country, automakers have been working on mandatory recall policies. As of now, automakers have a voluntary recall initiative that is stipulated by industry body managed by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. Speaking more on the occasion the company said, “The proactive inspection/up-gradation is in keeping with Mahindra's customer-centric approach.”
