Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, the country's favourite Utility Vehicle (UV) maker, is on cloud nine as its compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Quanto has witnessed over 10,000 bookings, since its launch in late September 2012. Accordingly, the company has announced to increase Quanto's production at its Nashik facility from the present 2,500 units to 3,500 units per month. M&M is working towards meeting the overwhelming response received by Indian public and has also revealed to start the increase in production of Quanto compact SUV from January 2013.

Commenting on the astounding popularity of Quanto among domestic car enthusiasts, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Automotive division, M&M, said, "The booking number will strengthens our belief that the Quanto will create a new category within the SUV segment with its unique value proposition. We are confident of meeting the demand and we are ramping up capacity towards the same."

Expressing his opinion regarding the ramping up of Quanto's monthly production, the CEO added, "The Quanto has received over 10,000 bookings in a span of 2 months , which strengthens our belief that the Quanto will create a new category within the SUV segment with its unique value proposition. We are confident of meeting the demand for the Quanto and are in the process of ramping up our production capacity at Nashik towards the same.”

Evidently, Mahindra Quanto is the tiniest M&M product running on Indian roads and is also the first compact SUV developed by country's largest maker of utility vehicles. Being aggressively priced within a price bracket close to Rs. 5.8 lakhs and Rs. 7.4 lakhs, the Quanto has two true blood rivals in Indian auto market, comprising Renault Duster and Premier Rio. At present, the French auto giant Renault's Duster compact SUV is market leader in the segment, but is much more expensive than Quanto. Therefore, M&M has very convincingly capped the market, which features compact hatchbacks around the Rs.5 lakhs to Rs. 7 lakhs price range. Further, the diesel powertrain has played a significant role in catapulting Mahindra Quanto to become star of the pack, within two months of its launch on the domestic turf.
